Picks are the best of the products we surveyed, not of the whole market.
Each score summarises that product's own reception and is not a head-to-head result.

**Bottom line.** Of the 5 computer keyboards we surveyed, the Logitech MX Keys S is the pick for productivity, since Trusted Reviews calls it a truly excellent office keyboard [@trustedreviews-logitech-mx-keys-s]. The Keychron Q1 Max is the pick for typing feel, where KitGuru and XDA both praise how it types [@kitguru-keychron-q1-max][@xda-keychron-q1-max]. The Keychron K3 Max is the pick for travel, a fit Trusted Reviews and Dexerto both name [@trustedreviews-keychron-k3-max][@dexerto-keychron-k3-max]. These are the best of five, not of the market.

## Quick picks

This guide ranks only the five computer keyboards we surveyed: the Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, the Keychron K3 Max, the Keychron Q1 Max, the Logitech MX Keys S and the Logitech MX Mechanical. Every award below means best among those five and says nothing about keyboards we did not look at. Three keyboards earn an award, and the other two are covered under Also considered. Each consensus score quoted here comes from its own set of reviews, so none of them is a head-to-head result.

- **Best for productivity among the 5 we surveyed: [Logitech MX Keys S](/computer-keyboards/logitech-mx-keys-s/).** Trusted Reviews calls it "a truly excellent office keyboard" [@trustedreviews-logitech-mx-keys-s]. The trade-off is weight and price: Logitech lists 810 g without the palm rest [@logitech-logitech-mx-keys-s-specs], and Tom's Guide lists the cost as a con [@tomsguide-logitech-mx-keys-s].
- **Best for typing feel among the 5 we surveyed: [Keychron Q1 Max](/computer-keyboards/keychron-q1-max/).** KitGuru lists incredible typing feel and XDA lists a great typing experience [@kitguru-keychron-q1-max][@xda-keychron-q1-max]. The trade-off is bulk and cost: Keychron lists 1724 g [@keychron-keychron-q1-max], and AppleInsider lists the high price as its only con [@appleinsider-keychron-q1-max].
- **Best for travel among the 5 we surveyed: [Keychron K3 Max](/computer-keyboards/keychron-k3-max/).** Trusted Reviews calls it "ideal for minimalist setups and frequent flyers" [@trustedreviews-keychron-k3-max]. The trade-off is battery life, which SemiPro Tech+Gear and Gear43 both list as a con [@semiprotechgear-keychron-k3-max][@gear43-keychron-k3-max].

Two buyer profiles, gaming and budget, go unawarded, and a later section explains why.

## Logitech MX Keys S: best for productivity

**Why it wins.** The productivity case comes from three write-ups that describe the same job. RTINGS calls the Logitech MX Keys S "an outstanding desktop option for productivity and everyday browsing" [@rtings-logitech-mx-keys-s]. Tom's Guide lists great for productivity among its pros, and How-To Geek lists suitability for intense workflows [@tomsguide-logitech-mx-keys-s][@howtogeek-logitech-mx-keys-s]. Typing feel is the common thread. Windows Central calls the action responsive, tactile and quiet [@windowscentral-logitech-mx-keys-s], and PCWorld lists great typing feel as a pro [@pcworld-logitech-mx-keys-s]. Trusted Reviews prefers mechanical keyboards in general but says it was impressed by the tactility given how short the travel is [@trustedreviews-logitech-mx-keys-s]. TechGearLab measured 1.9 mm of total travel, a 0.65 mm tactile bump and about 35 dBA of average typing noise [@techgearlab-logitech-mx-keys-s].

Working across several computers is the second reason. Digital Camera World lists switching between three devices as a strength, and PCWorld found switching fast [@digitalcameraworld-logitech-mx-keys-s][@pcworld-logitech-mx-keys-s]. Windows Central says Logi Options+ can remap every function key and switch profiles per application [@windowscentral-logitech-mx-keys-s]. Tom's Guide credits the dual-labeled keys and automatic operating-system detection for making it easy to work across macOS and Windows [@tomsguide-logitech-mx-keys-s]. For Apple users, AppleInsider reviewed the Mac-layout unit and prefers its typing feel to Apple's Magic Keyboard, while noting that it has no Touch ID [@appleinsider-logitech-mx-keys-s].

Battery life suits a desk keyboard. Logitech states five months with the backlight off [@logitech-logitech-mx-keys-s-specs], PCWorld did not need to recharge in two weeks of testing [@pcworld-logitech-mx-keys-s], and Windows Central lists long-lasting battery life with excellent standby time among its pros [@windowscentral-logitech-mx-keys-s].

The consensus score is 83 with high confidence, built from seven ratings: Windows Central 4.5 out of 5, Trusted Reviews 5 out of 5, Digital Camera World 4 out of 5, Tom's Guide 4 out of 5, PCWorld 4 out of 5, AppleInsider 4.5 out of 5 and How-To Geek 8 out of 10 [@windowscentral-logitech-mx-keys-s][@trustedreviews-logitech-mx-keys-s][@digitalcameraworld-logitech-mx-keys-s][@tomsguide-logitech-mx-keys-s][@pcworld-logitech-mx-keys-s][@appleinsider-logitech-mx-keys-s][@howtogeek-logitech-mx-keys-s].
**The trade-off.** The board is heavy and fixed in shape. Logitech lists 810 g without the 180 g palm rest [@logitech-logitech-mx-keys-s-specs]. Windows Central calls the all-plastic body heavy and says it creaks when picked up [@windowscentral-logitech-mx-keys-s], How-To Geek lists it as heavier than most keyboards [@howtogeek-logitech-mx-keys-s], and TechGearLab weighed its unit at 808 g and calls it the heaviest non-mechanical board in its group [@techgearlab-logitech-mx-keys-s]. Price is the other recurring note. Logitech's US page showed $119.99 and $129.99 beside a "$10.00 off" marker on October 25, 2026, which we read as a $129.99 list price [@logitech-logitech-mx-keys-s]. Tom's Guide and Trusted Reviews both list cost as a con, though their judgments were made at launch prices of $109 to $109.99 [@tomsguide-logitech-mx-keys-s][@trustedreviews-logitech-mx-keys-s][@windowscentral-logitech-mx-keys-s][@pcworld-logitech-mx-keys-s]. Windows Central, Tom's Guide and TechGearLab each note there is nowhere on the keyboard to store the USB receiver [@windowscentral-logitech-mx-keys-s][@tomsguide-logitech-mx-keys-s][@techgearlab-logitech-mx-keys-s]. With the backlight on, Logitech's own table gives roughly 6 to 10 days depending on room light [@logitech-logitech-mx-keys-s-specs], and Tom's Guide calls the white backlight dim even at its highest level [@tomsguide-logitech-mx-keys-s].

**Who should look elsewhere.** Travelers: How-To Geek says it is not a portable keyboard and points to the smaller MX Keys Mini, which we did not survey [@howtogeek-logitech-mx-keys-s]. Gamers: Windows Central would not pick it first for gaming because of short key travel and average 2.4 GHz wireless performance [@windowscentral-logitech-mx-keys-s]. People who want a mechanical feel: Trusted Reviews notes that wired mechanical keyboards at the same price may type better [@trustedreviews-logitech-mx-keys-s]. Linux, Android and iOS users who want remapping: Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide both note that Logi Options+ is available only on Windows and macOS [@digitalcameraworld-logitech-mx-keys-s][@tomsguide-logitech-mx-keys-s].

## Keychron Q1 Max: best for typing feel

**Why it wins.** The typing-feel award rests on how consistent the praise is. KitGuru lists incredible typing feel and great acoustics [@kitguru-keychron-q1-max], XDA lists a great typing experience [@xda-keychron-q1-max], and Trusted Reviews lists ultra-satisfying keystrokes [@trustedreviews-keychron-q1-max]. AppleInsider lists a great clack with no resonance, which it credits to plenty of padding [@appleinsider-keychron-q1-max]. GGRecon says Keychron has made great-feeling keyboards for years but that the Q1 Max "might be its dreamiest yet" [@ggrecon-keychron-q1-max]. Mechanicalkeyboard.net calls it "the best 75% wireless keyboard we have tested", which is that outlet's wider claim and not a ranking of our five [@mechanicalkeyboard-net-keychron-q1-max]. RTINGS reviewed the larger Q5 Max in the same series and says its results apply to the other sizes, including the Q1 Max. It adds that the Q Max line has extra damping layers over the Q Pro for a rounder, less pingy sound [@rtings-keychron-q1-max].

Sound depends on the switch. XDA's sample used Gateron Jupiter Banana switches, which it calls loud with solid tactile feedback [@xda-keychron-q1-max]. AppleInsider typed on Jupiter Reds and describes a quiet yet distinct clack [@appleinsider-keychron-q1-max], and Trusted Reviews rates the Jupiter Brown unit's sound as the best it had heard recently [@trustedreviews-keychron-q1-max]. A buyer should therefore choose the switch with care.

The board is also meant to be modified. Keychron says it is hot-swappable with most 3-pin and 5-pin MX-style switches [@keychron-keychron-q1-max], and KitGuru lists easy full disassembly as a strength [@kitguru-keychron-q1-max]. AppleInsider counts hardware and software customization as a pro [@appleinsider-keychron-q1-max]. Mechanicalkeyboard.net names daily-driver professionals, Mac users, writers and programmers as the best fit [@mechanicalkeyboard-net-keychron-q1-max], and XDA says the aluminum shell has no flex under force [@xda-keychron-q1-max].

The consensus score is 82, and the product record flags it as low confidence. It comes from six ratings: KitGuru 9 out of 10, GGRecon 4.5 out of 5, Mechanicalkeyboard.net 9 out of 10, XDA 8 out of 10, AppleInsider 4.5 out of 5 and Trusted Reviews 4.5 out of 5 [@kitguru-keychron-q1-max][@ggrecon-keychron-q1-max][@mechanicalkeyboard-net-keychron-q1-max][@xda-keychron-q1-max][@appleinsider-keychron-q1-max][@trustedreviews-keychron-q1-max]. Because of the flag, this award leans more on the stated fit than on the number.

**The trade-off.** Price comes first. Mechanicalkeyboard.net lists $209 for the fully assembled version and $189 barebone as read in October 2026 [@mechanicalkeyboard-net-keychron-q1-max]. XDA and AppleInsider both list the cost as a con, and Trusted Reviews says even the barebones version is still expensive, though it adds that "it could very well last a lifetime" [@xda-keychron-q1-max][@appleinsider-keychron-q1-max][@trustedreviews-keychron-q1-max]. Weight is next. Keychron lists 1724 g [@keychron-keychron-q1-max], XDA calls the board bulky and heavy, and AppleInsider puts it at just under four pounds [@xda-keychron-q1-max][@appleinsider-keychron-q1-max]. The tilt cannot be changed: AppleInsider notes a fixed 5.2-degree angle and recommends a wrist rest, and KitGuru's single con is the lack of an adjustable angle [@appleinsider-keychron-q1-max][@kitguru-keychron-q1-max]. RTINGS also recommends a wrist rest because of the fairly high profile [@rtings-keychron-q1-max]. The lighting sits under the keys and does not shine through the keycaps, which RTINGS and Mechanicalkeyboard.net treat as a drawback [@rtings-keychron-q1-max][@mechanicalkeyboard-net-keychron-q1-max].

Battery claims need care. Keychron lists up to 180 hours with the backlight off and 30 hours with RGB on [@keychron-keychron-q1-max]. Mechanicalkeyboard.net says the 180-hour figure holds only in the most favorable conditions and measured about a week of daily use with RGB on over 2.4 GHz [@mechanicalkeyboard-net-keychron-q1-max]. The sources also differ on stabilizers: XDA calls the spacebar stabilizer far better than the one on Keychron's cheaper V1 Max, RTINGS reports inconsistent stabilizers on the Q5 Max, and Mechanicalkeyboard.net says they vary from unit to unit and that its own had no rattle [@xda-keychron-q1-max][@rtings-keychron-q1-max][@mechanicalkeyboard-net-keychron-q1-max].

**Who should look elsewhere.** Anyone who carries a keyboard: the weight above makes this a desk board, and no source recommends it for travel. Buyers who want shine-through keycaps or adjustable feet: Mechanicalkeyboard.net says to skip it for those reasons [@mechanicalkeyboard-net-keychron-q1-max]. Competitive shooter players on Bluetooth: Keychron lists Bluetooth at 90 Hz against 1000 Hz over the 2.4 GHz dongle or a cable [@keychron-keychron-q1-max]. Budget buyers: Mechanicalkeyboard.net points to Keychron's Lemokey P1 Pro at $129, a model we did not survey [@mechanicalkeyboard-net-keychron-q1-max].

## Keychron K3 Max: best for travel

**Why it wins.** Two outlets name travel as the fit. Trusted Reviews calls the Keychron K3 Max "ideal for minimalist setups and frequent flyers" [@trustedreviews-keychron-k3-max]. Dexerto recommends it to people who travel or switch between devices and says it has "an edge in size, portability, and versatility" [@dexerto-keychron-k3-max]. SemiPro Tech+Gear lists the ability to use it on top of a laptop among its pros [@semiprotechgear-keychron-k3-max]. Keychron lists a 75% layout with 84 keys, a weight of 525 g, and Bluetooth for up to three devices alongside a 2.4 GHz dongle and a USB-C cable [@keychron-keychron-k3-max]. Trusted Reviews lists the tiny footprint as a pro [@trustedreviews-keychron-k3-max]. Dexerto says the aluminum base plate makes it sturdy yet light and that the acoustic foam keeps typing quiet enough for a train [@dexerto-keychron-k3-max].

Typing is well regarded for a low-profile board. Trusted Reviews lists a smooth, quiet and satisfying typing experience [@trustedreviews-keychron-k3-max], and KLGadgetGuy, after a month of daily use of the Gateron Red version, calls it a superb low-profile mechanical keyboard [@klgadgetguy-keychron-k3-max]. Kay Tomas reports that Bluetooth worked well with a MacBook, an iPhone and an iPad [@kaytomas-keychron-k3-max], which matters for someone who moves between devices.

Weight alone does not decide this award. Apple lists the compact Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID at 243 g [@apple-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id-specs], less than the K3 Max's 525 g in Keychron's listing [@keychron-keychron-k3-max]. That is a comparison of two spec sheets, and no source we hold recommends the Apple board for travel. Cult of Mac says it stays paired to one Mac [@cultofmac-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id], and Tom's Guide warns that it may be cumbersome with a MacBook unless the laptop is raised off the desk [@tomsguide-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id].

The consensus score is 78, flagged as low confidence in the product record, from four ratings: Dexerto 4 out of 5, Kay Tomas 4 out of 6, CompactNest 4.4 out of 5 and Trusted Reviews 4 out of 5 [@dexerto-keychron-k3-max][@kaytomas-keychron-k3-max][@compactnest-keychron-k3-max][@trustedreviews-keychron-k3-max]. As with the Q1 Max, the award leans on stated fit.

**The trade-off.** Battery life is the most repeated complaint. SemiPro Tech+Gear lists it as a con, citing up to 78 hours with the lights off [@semiprotechgear-keychron-k3-max], and Gear43 lists it too and got about 5 to 6 days between charges [@gear43-keychron-k3-max]. Trusted Reviews lists decent battery life as a pro and got about a week with full lighting [@trustedreviews-keychron-k3-max], so the sources split. Keychron's US page lists up to 73 hours [@keychron-keychron-k3-max]. For a traveler the dongle is a second catch: Gadgetoid's biggest complaint is that it has nowhere to be stored on the keyboard [@gadgetoid-keychron-k3-max]. Trusted Reviews says the board is so thin that a standard wrist rest is uncomfortable [@trustedreviews-keychron-k3-max]. Hot-swapping applies only to the RGB version, per Keychron, which lists a regular price of $109.99 with a separate $5 coupon as of October 25, 2026 [@keychron-keychron-k3-max]. Trusted Reviews calls the board a 60% keyboard, which conflicts with Keychron's 75% listing [@trustedreviews-keychron-k3-max].

**Who should look elsewhere.** Gamers: Trusted Reviews lists it as not great for gaming and Dexerto calls it not a gaming keyboard [@trustedreviews-keychron-k3-max][@dexerto-keychron-k3-max]. Buyers who want to swap keycaps freely: Trusted Reviews lists limited switch and keycap compatibility, and Gadgetoid found Keychron's own Hacker keycap set jammed on the low-profile switches [@trustedreviews-keychron-k3-max][@gadgetoid-keychron-k3-max]. Anyone who wants weeks of runtime between charges: see the battery split above. Quiet-office buyers on a tight budget: CompactNest says it costs four or five times what a competent compact membrane keyboard does and names Logitech's Pebble Keys 2, which we did not survey, as better value for quiet office work [@compactnest-keychron-k3-max].

## Why are there no gaming or budget awards?

**Gaming.** The sources do not settle a gaming winner among the five, so no gaming award is given. Trusted Reviews and Dexerto are cool on the K3 Max [@trustedreviews-keychron-k3-max][@dexerto-keychron-k3-max], although SemiPro Tech+Gear and KLGadgetGuy are warmer about its 2.4 GHz mode [@semiprotechgear-keychron-k3-max][@klgadgetguy-keychron-k3-max]. XDA enjoyed gaming on the Q1 Max, while GGRecon reaches for a Logitech PRO X 60 for games and Trusted Reviews points professionals to optical-switch boards [@xda-keychron-q1-max][@ggrecon-keychron-q1-max][@trustedreviews-keychron-q1-max]. Windows Central would not pick the MX Keys S first for gaming [@windowscentral-logitech-mx-keys-s]. For the MX Mechanical, Laptop Mag found it good for work and play, but Trusted Reviews calls it a poor gaming value at its price and cites high latency [@laptopmag-logitech-mx-mechanical][@trustedreviews-logitech-mx-mechanical]. No source we hold frames the Apple board as a gaming keyboard.

**Budget.** The listed prices we hold, from different dates and outlets, run from $109.99 for the K3 Max [@keychron-keychron-k3-max] and $129.99 for the MX Keys S [@logitech-logitech-mx-keys-s] to $149 for the compact Apple board [@macworld-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id], $179.99 for the MX Mechanical [@logitech-logitech-mx-mechanical] and $209 assembled for the Q1 Max [@mechanicalkeyboard-net-keychron-q1-max]. That is spec-sheet arithmetic, not a price check. The K3 Max has the lowest of these figures, but a keyboard can win only one award, and its price sources are mixed: SemiPro Tech+Gear lists a good feature-to-price ratio, while CompactNest says it costs several times a basic membrane board [@semiprotechgear-keychron-k3-max][@compactnest-keychron-k3-max]. Tom's Guide suggests waiting for a sale on the MX Keys S and names cheaper keyboards we did not survey [@tomsguide-logitech-mx-keys-s]. None of the five is described by a source as a budget keyboard, so we left the profile unawarded.

## How we chose

This guide was compiled on October 26, 2026 from the survey pages for the five products named above: the Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, the Keychron K3 Max, the Keychron Q1 Max, the Logitech MX Keys S and the Logitech MX Mechanical. Those surveys rest on 51 source records: 42 independent write-ups, one retailer listing [@mechanicalkeyboards-keychron-q1-max] and eight manufacturer pages. Trusted Reviews and Tom's Guide each appear in more than one survey [@trustedreviews-keychron-k3-max][@trustedreviews-logitech-mx-keys-s][@tomsguide-logitech-mx-keys-s][@tomsguide-logitech-mx-mechanical], so the count is of records and not of distinct publishers. We do not test keyboards ourselves, and nothing here is a claim of testing. The method is explained on the [methodology page](/methodology/).

A pick needs two things: a fit to one of the category's buyer profiles (productivity, typing feel, gaming, travel and budget) and evidence in the surveys that supports the fit. Consensus scores are computed by code from the published ratings on each product record and never edited by hand. The five scores are 83 for the MX Keys S, 82 for the Q1 Max, 78 for the K3 Max, 75 for the MX Mechanical and 75 for the Apple board. Each score comes from its own set of write-ups, so the five are not a head-to-head ranking and this page does not subtract one from another.

Confidence matters as much as the number. The MX Keys S and the MX Mechanical carry high confidence, with seven and eight ratings. The Q1 Max, the K3 Max and the Apple board are flagged low in the product records. Two of the three picks therefore rest on low-confidence scores, and those awards lean on the stated fit and on how consistent the written praise is.

Comparative claims appear in two cases only. One is when a single outlet makes the comparison itself, such as AppleInsider preferring the MX Keys S typing feel to Apple's Magic Keyboard [@appleinsider-logitech-mx-keys-s]. The other is spec-sheet arithmetic, with each figure cited and the dates noted. Each write-up usually covers a single keyboard, so a verdict on one product is never joined to a verdict on another.

The two products that earned no award, the Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and the Logitech MX Mechanical, are covered below.

## Also considered

**[Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID](/computer-keyboards/apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id/).** Macworld names it the best Mac keyboard with Touch ID in a round-up of Mac keyboards, and Cult of Mac says it is the only way to get Touch ID on a Mac [@macworld-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id][@cultofmac-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id]. It took no award for four reasons. First, none of the guide's profiles describes what it is for. Its sources recommend it for owners of Apple-silicon Macs who want a fingerprint reader, and Apple lists that class of Mac as the requirement [@apple-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id-specs]. Second, its score is 75 with low confidence and rests on a single rating, Cult of Mac's 3 out of 5 [@cultofmac-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id]. Third, typing feel divides reviewers: Cult of Mac's reviewer made more typos than on keyboards with deeper travel, PCMag calls shallow travel a demerit for heavy typists but a plus for light-touch users, and Chuniversiteit finds typing disappointing [@cultofmac-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id][@pcmag-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id][@chuniversiteit-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id]. Fourth, Macworld lists it as expensive with no backlight [@macworld-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id].

**[Logitech MX Mechanical](/computer-keyboards/logitech-mx-mechanical/).** Trusted Reviews calls it arguably one of the best office-based mechanical keyboards, and Console Creatures says it is one of the best keyboards its reviewer has used [@trustedreviews-logitech-mx-mechanical][@consolecreatures-logitech-mx-mechanical]. Its score is 75 with high confidence, from eight ratings. It took no award because the written evidence splits where the picks above are firmer. On typing feel, Laptop Mag and CG Magazine are positive, while How-To Geek lists switch feel as a con and concludes the typing experience is not worth the extra features [@laptopmag-logitech-mx-mechanical][@cgmagazine-logitech-mx-mechanical][@howtogeek-logitech-mx-mechanical]. On noise, PCWorld calls it very noisy despite Quiet switches and blames the chassis [@pcworld-logitech-mx-mechanical], while Tom's Guide found the tactile switches notably quieter than a typical Brown [@tomsguide-logitech-mx-mechanical]. Price is the most repeated complaint: Tom's Guide says at $170 it seems at least $20 more than it ought to be, and Logitech's US page showed $179.99 on October 25, 2026 [@tomsguide-logitech-mx-mechanical][@logitech-logitech-mx-mechanical]. Tom's Hardware and Tom's Guide each list the missing wired mode as a drawback [@tomshardware-logitech-mx-mechanical][@tomsguide-logitech-mx-mechanical]. On the plus side, Logitech rates its battery at 10 months with the backlight off [@logitech-logitech-mx-mechanical-specs].

**Models named by the write-ups but not surveyed.** Mechanicalkeyboard.net names Keychron's Lemokey P1 Pro [@mechanicalkeyboard-net-keychron-q1-max], How-To Geek names the Logitech MX Keys Mini [@howtogeek-logitech-mx-keys-s], SemiPro Tech+Gear names the NuPhy Air75 V2 [@semiprotechgear-keychron-k3-max], CompactNest names the Logitech Pebble Keys 2 [@compactnest-keychron-k3-max], and Tom's Guide names the Keychron V6, the Epomaker TH80 Pro and the Keychron B1 Pro [@tomsguide-logitech-mx-keys-s]. We did not survey any of them, so this guide takes no position on how they compare with the five above.

## Questions

**Which of the five keyboards is best for typing feel?**

The Keychron Q1 Max is our pick among the five because its reviewers agree: KitGuru lists incredible typing feel, XDA lists a great typing experience and Trusted Reviews lists ultra-satisfying keystrokes [@kitguru-keychron-q1-max][@xda-keychron-q1-max][@trustedreviews-keychron-q1-max]. No source compares it with the other four, so this describes the evidence behind it, not a head-to-head result. Reviewers split on the Logitech MX Mechanical: Laptop Mag calls it a joy to type on, while How-To Geek lists switch feel as a con [@laptopmag-logitech-mx-mechanical][@howtogeek-logitech-mx-mechanical].

**Which of these keyboards is the easiest to carry?**

Listed weights, taken from separate spec sheets and set side by side, run from 243 g for the compact Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID [@apple-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id-specs] and 525 g for the Keychron K3 Max [@keychron-keychron-k3-max] to 810 g for the Logitech MX Keys S [@logitech-logitech-mx-keys-s-specs], 828 g for the Logitech MX Mechanical [@logitech-logitech-mx-mechanical-specs] and 1724 g for the Keychron Q1 Max [@keychron-keychron-q1-max]. Of the five, Trusted Reviews and Dexerto recommend the K3 Max to travelers [@trustedreviews-keychron-k3-max][@dexerto-keychron-k3-max], while How-To Geek says the MX Keys S is not a portable keyboard [@howtogeek-logitech-mx-keys-s].

**Are any of these keyboards good for gaming?**

The sources do not pick a gaming winner among the five. Trusted Reviews lists the Keychron K3 Max as not great for gaming and Dexerto calls it not a gaming keyboard [@trustedreviews-keychron-k3-max][@dexerto-keychron-k3-max]. Trusted Reviews says 2.4 GHz gaming on the Keychron Q1 Max is fine for most players but points professionals to optical-switch boards [@trustedreviews-keychron-q1-max]. Windows Central would not choose the Logitech MX Keys S first for gaming [@windowscentral-logitech-mx-keys-s], and Reviewed measured about 13 to 16 ms of input latency on the Logitech MX Mechanical, fine for casual play but too high for competitive play [@reviewed-logitech-mx-mechanical].

**Which of these keyboards has the longest battery life?**

Manufacturer ratings use different units and conditions, so they are not like for like. Logitech rates the MX Keys S at five months with the backlight off and the MX Mechanical at 10 months with it off and 15 days with it on [@logitech-logitech-mx-keys-s-specs][@logitech-logitech-mx-mechanical-specs]. Apple says about a month or more [@apple-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id-specs]. Keychron lists up to 180 hours for the Q1 Max and up to 73 hours for the K3 Max [@keychron-keychron-q1-max][@keychron-keychron-k3-max]. Reviewers report less with lighting on, such as Reviewed's 8 to 9 days of mixed use on the MX Mechanical [@reviewed-logitech-mx-mechanical].

**Can these keyboards connect to more than one computer?**

Four of the five can. Keychron lists Bluetooth pairing with three devices for both the K3 Max and the Q1 Max [@keychron-keychron-k3-max][@keychron-keychron-q1-max], Digital Camera World lists three remembered devices for the MX Keys S [@digitalcameraworld-logitech-mx-keys-s], and Logitech says the MX Mechanical connects to up to three [@logitech-logitech-mx-mechanical]. Cult of Mac says the Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID stays paired to one Mac, and PCMag faults the lack of cycling among Bluetooth connections [@cultofmac-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id][@pcmag-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id].

**Which of these keyboards work with both Windows and macOS?**

Keychron lists macOS, Windows and Linux for the K3 Max and the Q1 Max [@keychron-keychron-k3-max][@keychron-keychron-q1-max]. Logitech lists Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, iOS and Android for the MX Keys S, with only basic functions outside Windows and macOS [@logitech-logitech-mx-keys-s-specs]. How-To Geek says the MX Mechanical syncs across Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome OS, iPhone, iPad and Android [@howtogeek-logitech-mx-mechanical]. Apple lists a Mac with Apple silicon on macOS 15.1 or later as the requirement for the Touch ID model [@apple-apple-magic-keyboard-touch-id-specs].
