Best Computer Mice of 2026

This page summarises 58 sources from 32 publishers, compiled with AI assistance and checked against those sources. We don't test products ourselves. How we work.

Bottom line

Of the 5 computer mice we surveyed, the Logitech MX Master 4 is the pick for productivity, as RTINGS names it the best productivity mouse for most users 1. The Logitech Lift Vertical Ergonomic Mouse is the pick for left-handed buyers, since Logitech lists a left-handed model 4. The Logitech MX Anywhere 3S is the pick for travel, where PCWorld calls it the best travel mouse around if you pay up 7. The SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless Gen 2 is the pick for budget at a $59.99 launch price 9. These are the best of five, not of the market.

Picks are the best of the 5 products we surveyed, not of the whole market. Scores summarise each product's own reviews and are not a head-to-head result. How the score works.

Quick picks

This guide ranks only the five computer mice we surveyed: the Logitech Lift Vertical Ergonomic Mouse, the Logitech MX Anywhere 3S, the Logitech MX Master 3S, the Logitech MX Master 4 and the SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless Gen 2. Every award below means best among those five and says nothing about mice we did not look at. Four products earn an award, and the MX Master 3S is covered under Also considered. Each consensus score quoted here comes from its own set of write-ups, so none of the scores is a head-to-head result.

  • Best for productivity among the 5 we surveyed: Logitech MX Master 4. RTINGS names it the best productivity mouse for most users 1. The trade-off is weight and price: Logitech lists 150 g 2 and the store price is $119.99 3.
  • Best for left-handed buyers among the 5 we surveyed: Logitech Lift Vertical Ergonomic Mouse. Logitech lists a left-handed Graphite model in selected countries 4. The trade-off is that wrist relief divides the write-ups and the mouse runs small for large hands 56.
  • Best for travel among the 5 we surveyed: Logitech MX Anywhere 3S. PCWorld calls it the best travel mouse around for buyers willing to pay up 7. The trade-off is the price, which Trusted Reviews lists as a con 8.
  • Best for budget among the 5 we surveyed: SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless Gen 2. SteelSeries launched it at $59.99 9. The trade-off is that it takes AAA batteries 10, and PC Gamer and Windows Central fault the scroll wheel 1112.

Large hands have no separate award. The MX Master 4 carries that profile on thin evidence, covered in its section below.

Logitech MX Master 4: best for productivity

Why it wins. RTINGS calls the Logitech MX Master 4 the best productivity mouse for most users, which is that outlet’s own wider verdict rather than a ranking of our five 1. NotebookCheck gives it “a clear recommendation for power users who spend a lot of time at the computer and want to optimize their workflows” 13. PCWorld scored it 4 out of 5 and praised the ergonomics, the build, the adjustable-resistance wheel and a thumb wheel that helps in spreadsheets and timelines 14. Console Creatures rated it 9 out of 10 15 and How-To Geek gave it 10 out of 10 16.

The consensus score is 83 with low confidence, built from three ratings. Those are the How-To Geek, PCWorld and Console Creatures scores. Low confidence matters here: it means the number rests on a thin base and should not be read as settled.

Battery life is rated at 70 days by Logitech 2. Console Creatures saw about a 5% drop over three weeks of use 15, and an Engadget follow-up matched the rating 17.

The headline new feature is haptic feedback, and write-ups split on it. How-To Geek has no complaints about the haptics 16, while Engadget calls them gimmicky 17 and NotebookCheck says they only work with certain programs 13. The new customizable Action button draws a separate reaction. How-To Geek credits it with “one small update that changed my entire workflow” 16, whereas The Gadgeteer says it does not use the Action button or Actions Ring, preferring keyboard macros and other tools 18.

Large hands. Engadget is the only write-up we hold that names a hand size for the MX Master 4, listing medium and large hands among its pros 17. That is why the large-hands profile is attached here, and it is thinner than the productivity case. For a source that measured a sibling model, see the MX Master 3S under Also considered.

The trade-off. The mouse is heavy. Logitech lists 150 g 2 and RTINGS measured 151.8 g 1. PCWorld and NotebookCheck both call it heavy in their write-ups 1413, although Console Creatures says the gap from the 3S is too slight to notice 15. The store price is $119.99 as of September 2026 3, and How-To Geek notes it launched $20 above the previous generation 16. RTINGS and Engadget add that polling is 125 Hz, there is no onboard memory, and the software has to run in the background for custom settings 117.

Who should look elsewhere. Left-handed buyers and people with small hands: Engadget says the shape is not for them 17. Competitive shooter players: RTINGS says it was not designed for first-person shooters 1. Mac buyers: How-To Geek and The Gadgeteer note that the Mac version does not include a Bolt receiver 1618. Anyone who needs deep macro control: PCWorld found the macros limited 14. Owners of an MX Master 3S: How-To Geek advises skipping the upgrade 16.

Logitech Lift Vertical Ergonomic Mouse: best for left-handed buyers

Why it wins. Handedness is the one profile where the evidence is mostly about availability, and here the Logitech Lift stands apart. This award reflects the availability of a left-handed model rather than left-handed impressions, and the MX Anywhere 3S, which some write-ups call ambidextrous, is the alternative described below. Logitech lists a left-handed Graphite model in selected countries 4. Tom’s Hardware counts that as a pro and calls it rare among vertical mice 6, and Laptop Mag lists it as a pro too 19.

The alternatives are weaker on this point. TechRadar and Tom’s Guide both describe the MX Master 3S as right-handed only 2021, and TechRadar’s left-handed reviewer suggests the Lift instead 20. Engadget says the MX Master 4 is not for lefties 17. Tom’s Guide says the Rival 3 has no left-handed version 22. The MX Anywhere 3S is unclear: XDA and Geek Culture call it ambidextrous 2324, but the spec box at Tom’s Guide says right-handed 25.

The consensus score is 83 with high confidence, from seven ratings: Laptop Mag 4.5 out of 5, Tom’s Hardware 4 out of 5, TechRadar 4.5 out of 5, Tom’s Guide 3.5 out of 5, T3 5 out of 5, Mighty Gadget 90 out of 100 and Trusted Reviews 4.5 out of 5 196262728295. The caveat is that the product record describes the right-handed model, so the score is not a left-handed-specific result. Tom’s Guide relays a Logitech representative’s caution to try a vertical mouse before committing 27.

Fit. T3, TechRadar and Tom’s Hardware place it with small and medium hands 28266. CNN Underscored received both the right-handed and left-handed units, notes that both models are validated by US Ergonomics and carry the AGR back-friendly seal, and says getting comfortable took about five minutes 30. Laptop Mag took closer to a week 19.

The trade-off. Wrist relief is not a settled question. Trusted Reviews reports relief 5, Tom’s Guide found a pressure point 27, and RTINGS called its result inconclusive 31. The mouse runs on a single AA battery that is not rechargeable, per Laptop Mag and Tom’s Guide 1927, although Logitech rates that battery at 24 months 4. Tom’s Hardware and CNN Underscored both found the DPI button awkward to reach 630. Sensitivity tops out at 4,000 DPI 32. The store price is $79.99 as of October 2026 33.

Who should look elsewhere. Large hands: Trusted Reviews and Tom’s Hardware say it is too small 56, and T3 and Tom’s Guide point to the Logitech MX Vertical, which we did not survey 2827. Travelers: RTINGS calls it bulky 31. Anyone who wants a horizontal scroll wheel: Laptop Mag notes it lacks one 19. Gamers: RTINGS limits it to casual play 31.

Logitech MX Anywhere 3S: best for travel

Why it wins. Three write-ups center on travel. PCWorld says “it’s still the best travel mouse around if you’re willing to pay up”, which is its own wider claim and not a ranking of our five 7. How-To Geek calls it “a fantastic wireless mouse and a perfect travel companion” 34, and EFTM frames it the same way 35.

Size and weight explain the fit. Logitech lists 95 g, or 85 g without the battery 36, and RTINGS measured 93.7 g 37. As spec-sheet arithmetic, with each figure cited and the dates differing: the Lift is listed at 125 g, the MX Master 3S at 141 g and the MX Master 4 at 150 g 32382. The Rival 3 is listed at 95 g to 106 g depending on batteries 911. RTINGS separately calls the Lift bulky for a laptop bag 31.

Tracking on glass is praised by XDA, EFTM and Geek Culture 233524, and PCWorld ran a mirror test 7. XDA and EFTM like the quiet clicks 2335. Digital Camera World and How-To Geek point to multi-device pairing 3934.

The consensus score is 82 with low confidence, from eight ratings: Digital Camera World 4.75 out of 5, Trusted Reviews 4.5 out of 5, How-To Geek 9 out of 10, EFTM 87%, Geek Culture 8.1 out of 10, XDA 8 out of 10, PCWorld 4 out of 5 and Tom’s Hardware 4 out of 5 39834352423740. Eight ratings would normally suggest more certainty, so the low-confidence flag is worth reading as a caution that this score rests on a scattered set of write-ups.

The trade-off. Price. Trusted Reviews, PCWorld and Tom’s Guide all list it as a con 8725. The store price is $89.99 as of October 2026 41, against a launch near $79 to $80 reported by Tom’s Guide and XDA 2523. PCWorld and XDA note the Bolt receiver is not in the box 723, though RTINGS says most buyers will not notice the difference between Bolt and Bluetooth 37. The 70-day battery rating is unverified: PCWorld could not test it and EFTM expects about four weeks 735. Tom’s Guide’s reviewer, who has arthritis, found it uncomfortable 25.

Who should look elsewhere. Large hands: Trusted Reviews and Digital Camera World say it is small 839. Buyers who want many buttons: PCWorld and Tom’s Guide both note the limited count 725. Competitive gamers: RTINGS flags the 125 Hz rate and latency 37.

SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless Gen 2: best for budget

Why it wins. Budget here means the lowest list price among the five, not the best feature set. SteelSeries launched the Rival 3 Wireless Gen 2 at $59.99 in May 2025 9. For comparison, Logitech’s store lists $79.99 for the Lift, $89.99 for the MX Anywhere 3S, a struck-through $99.99 for the MX Master 3S and $119.99 for the MX Master 4 3341423. That is spec-sheet arithmetic across different dates, not a price check. GamesRadar adds that the mouse is a better buy at $40 to $45 43.

Tom’s Guide calls it “a cheap and cheerful mouse for most people” 22. GamesRadar and Windows Central both point out that 2.4 GHz plus Bluetooth is uncommon at this price 4312. TweakTown notes it takes one or two AAA batteries 10. PC Gamer calls it a jack of all trades for work, travel and light gaming 11.

The consensus score is 77 with high confidence, from seven ratings: GamesRadar 3.5 out of 5, TweakTown 81 out of 100, Trusted Reviews 4 out of 5, PC Gamer 66 out of 100, Tom’s Guide 4 out of 5, Windows Central 4 out of 5 and Gaming Trend 80 out of 100 43104411221245. The scores sit alongside the lowest price, and this guide does not read one from the other.

Fit and build. Tom’s Guide used it through a four-hour gaming session and an eight-hour work day 22. RTINGS places it with medium hands 46, and NotebookCheck says small-to-medium palm grips work and that the dongle stores inside 47. RTINGS and Windows Central comment on the build 4612.

The trade-off. The cheapest pick is also the one with the most compromises written down. Windows Central says the Razer Viper V3 HyperSpeed costs about $10 more and is better, a model we did not survey 12. Weight is a recurring note: Trusted Reviews and RTINGS flag it, and PC Gamer measured 106 g with two AAA batteries and a rear-weighted balance 444611. GamesRadar, Tom’s Guide and Basic Tutorials find the side buttons thin 432248. PC Gamer calls the scroll wheel mushy and squeaky, and Windows Central finds it cheap-feeling 1112. Runtime reports vary between Windows Central and NotebookCheck 1247. TweakTown adds that remapping changes apply only in 2.4 GHz mode, while Bluetooth mode reverts to defaults and lowers polling to 125 Hz, and both TweakTown and NotebookCheck note there is no wired mode 1047.

Who should look elsewhere. Left-handed buyers: Tom’s Guide and Maxi-Geek say it is right-handed 2249. Competitive shooter players: RTINGS rates it for competitive play while TweakTown and Tom’s Guide split on the question, so the evidence does not settle it 461022. Office users: RTINGS’s work verdict says the wheel lacks free-scroll and tilt 46.

How we chose

This guide was compiled on October 10, 2026 from the survey pages for the five products named above: the Logitech Lift Vertical Ergonomic Mouse, the Logitech MX Anywhere 3S, the Logitech MX Master 3S, the Logitech MX Master 4 and the SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless Gen 2. Across those surveys we hold 58 source records: 45 independent write-ups, one Walmart rating aggregate 50 and 12 manufacturer pages. We do not test mice ourselves, and nothing here is a claim of testing. The method is explained on the methodology page.

A pick needs two things: a fit to one of the buyer profiles in this category (productivity, travel, large hands, left-handed and budget), and evidence in the surveys that supports the fit. Consensus scores are computed by code from the published ratings on each product record, never edited by hand. The five scores are 83 for the MX Master 4, 83 for the Lift, 82 for the MX Anywhere 3S, 81 for the MX Master 3S and 77 for the Rival 3. They come from different sets of write-ups, so they are not a head-to-head ranking and the page does not subtract one from another.

Confidence is high for the Lift and the Rival 3, which each have seven ratings. It is low for the MX Anywhere 3S with eight ratings, and for the MX Master 3S and the MX Master 4 with three each. Two of the four picks therefore rest on low-confidence scores, and the awards lean on stated fit more than on the numbers.

Comparative claims appear in two cases only. One is when a single write-up makes the comparison itself, such as Engadget saying the MX Master 4 carries over its shape, battery, sensor and click noise from the MX Master 3S 17. The other is spec-sheet arithmetic, with each figure cited and the dates noted. Each write-up usually covers a single mouse, so a verdict on one product is never joined to a verdict on another.

Also considered

Logitech MX Master 3S. RTINGS calls it “an outstanding mouse for office use” 51. TechRadar lists quiet tactile clicks and a long-lasting battery among its pros 20. It did not take an award for four reasons.

First, the productivity slot went to its successor, which RTINGS names the best productivity mouse for most users 1. Second, the comparison of the two finds no overall winner, with the 3S cheaper and lighter and the 4 adding the extra button and haptics 16. Third, its score is low confidence and includes the Walmart aggregate 50. Fourth, the arithmetic favors it on price and weight: a struck-through $99.99 against $119.99, and 141 g against 150 g 423382. How-To Geek tells owners of the 3S to skip the upgrade 16.

On large hands, this is the better-documented model. The Digital Trends reviewer, who has very large hands, cites the 84.3 mm width as perfect for them 52, and TechGearLab scored comfort 9 out of 10 for medium and extra-large hands while noting it is a smidge big for smaller ones 53. Digital Trends calls it heavy for some buyers 52, RTINGS calls it bulky and not well suited to smaller hands 51, and TechRadar and Tom’s Guide describe it as right-handed only 2021.

Models named by the write-ups but not surveyed. RTINGS suggests the Keychron M6 as a cheaper alternative to the MX Master 4 1, T3 and Tom’s Guide name the Logitech MX Vertical 2827, Windows Central names the Razer Viper V3 HyperSpeed 12, and Tom’s Guide names the Razer Pro Click Mini and the Corsair Harpoon alongside the MX Anywhere 3S 25. We did not survey any of them, so this guide takes no position on how they compare.

Questions buyers ask

Which of the five mice is best for left-handed users?
The Logitech Lift, going by the evidence we have. Logitech lists a left-handed Graphite model in selected countries 4. Engadget says the MX Master 4 is not for lefties 17, and Tom's Guide says the Rival 3 has no left-handed version 22. For the MX Anywhere 3S, XDA and Geek Culture call it ambidextrous 2324, while the spec box at Tom's Guide says right-handed 25.
Which of the five mice is cheapest?
The SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless Gen 2 had the lowest launch price we cite, $59.99 in May 2025 9. Logitech's store lists the Lift at $79.99, the MX Anywhere 3S at $89.99, the MX Master 3S at a struck-through $99.99 and the MX Master 4 at $119.99 3341423. These are list prices from different dates, and GamesRadar says the Rival is a better buy at $40 to $45 43.
How long do these mice run on a battery?
Logitech rates the Lift at 24 months on one AA battery 4, though Laptop Mag reports a six-month claim 19. The MX Anywhere 3S, MX Master 3S and MX Master 4 are each rated at up to 70 days 36532. TweakTown cites 175 hours on 2.4 GHz for the Rival 3 10. The battery types differ, so the figures are not like for like.
Are any of these mice good for gaming?
Only the Rival 3 is pitched that way. Trusted Reviews calls it a budget gaming mouse for casual players 44, RTINGS rates it for casual and competitive play 46, and Tom's Guide says it is not suitable for pros 22. RTINGS says the MX Master 4 is fine for casual play but not designed for first-person shooters 1.
Which of these mice suits large or small hands?
The write-ups point different ways. A Digital Trends reviewer with very large hands finds the MX Master 3S width perfect for them 52, and Engadget lists medium and large hands for the MX Master 4 17. T3 describes the Lift as suited to small to medium hands 28, and Trusted Reviews says the same of the MX Anywhere 3S 8.
Is the MX Master 4 worth upgrading to from the MX Master 3S?
How-To Geek says to skip it unless you want the Action button or haptics 16, while The Gadgeteer calls it a small, smart improvement 18. Logitech lists the MX Master 4 at $119.99 and the MX Master 3S at a struck-through $99.99 342.
